Shores Company's inception traces back to 2005, catalyzed by a profound summer in Tahiti. Enthralled by the region's allure and cultural richness, Tawnya was impelled to craft products that mirrored paradise's essence. Thus, from the unassuming confines of a coastal bungalow kitchen, Shores Company emerged.
The appellation "Shores Company" pays homage to Tawnya's late grandfather, Michael Burke Shores, anchoring the enterprise in familial heritage. Tawnya derives inspiration from cherished moments spent with her grandfather, whether in his workshop or traversing the vast expanses of the ocean. These reminiscences, coupled with her fervent passion for exploration and travel, imbue the brand's ethos, underscoring its dedication to artisanal excellence and cultural homage.
Presently on Oahu's North Shore, Tawnya continues to draw inspiration from the sun-drenched coastlines and tropical locales she has traveled globally. With the establishment of her private studio in June 2021 and newly opened Flagship store in Haleiwa February of 2024, she remains unwavering in her dedication, infusing each Shores Company creation with a palpable essence of devotion and embracing a commitment to ethical standards. Shores Company meticulously sources its materials from reputable partners, ensuring sustainability and integrity. With 90% of its production transpiring in Hawaii and 10% in Bali, each creation is meticulously handcrafted and tailored in small batches in Haleiwa.
